My favourite part of my job is helping people achieve parenthood. I like to use humor and sports analogies to make all partners feel comfortable.
Dr. McTavish is the Medical Director of Heartland Fertility, Director of
Ultrasound and a Founding Partner of the original Heartland Fertility and
Gynecology Clinic. His extensive experience in women’s healthcare and
gynecological surgery includes advanced operative laparoscopy,
hysteroscopy and all areas of reproductive and infertility care. His expertise
includes tubal reanastomosis, laser surgery, endometriosis, uterine fibroids,
and uterine anomalies.
Dr. McTavish was a Family Physician prior to his residency. He is certified
in Obstetrics & Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons
and completed the Society of Reproductive Surgeons Fellowship in
Laparoscopic and Reproductive Surgery in Nashville, Tennessee. He has
authored papers, received teaching awards and is also registered with the
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba for the use of ultrasound.
He is a member of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Committee at the University of Manitoba, and holds membership with the
Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) and the American Society
of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
Dr. McTavish is actively involved in medical education and is currently
serving as a Co-Coordinator of the Resident Training Program for
Reproductive Endocrinology. He was an Education Specialist for the
Minimally Invasive Surgical Program for Gynecology at the University of
Manitoba, Health Science Center. He chaired the Endoscopy Committee
for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, served as a Chair of the
Manitoba Section District VI of the American College of Obstetricians &
Gynecologists (ACOG) for two terms and was a past board member of the
Giving Hope Fertility Assistance Fund.
Dr. McTavish enjoys helping individuals and couples, throughout their
journeys, supporting their fertility goals with compassion and empathy.
